As they enter the final stretch of the Premier League, all Tottenham and Liverpool can do is pick up the pace and hope that their rivals face obstacles as they try to climb the table. Jurgen Klopp’s side have seen their hopes of a quadruple send-off for their departing manager evaporate and when they take to the pitch at Anfield on Sunday they could be eight points off the summit, knowing that if they don’t win it will end their title race.
Spurs, in turn, have an important place to overcome Aston Villa in the race for the top four. Back-to-back defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea mean they are seven points off fourth place with a game in hand, but there are still two of the toughest games of the season to go.
