The second major golf tournament of the season will begin on Thursday, May 16, at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville. The 2024 PGA Championship will be the fourth held in Valhalla and previous winners include Mark Brooks (1996), Tiger Woods (2000) and Rory McIlroy (2014). Will we see another dominant superstar like Woods or McIlroy win in 2024, or will we see another unknown pro pull off a game-changing victory on the 2024 PGA Championship field like Brooks did in 1996? Scottie Scheffler has won four of the last five times he has played and is the 4-1 favorite in the 2024 PGA Championship odds after a dominant victory at Augusta.
McIlroy has 10-1 PGA Championship 2024 odds for the second major of the year, while Woods has a 125-1 long shot as he continues to play a limited schedule. Before securing your 2024 PGA Championship picks or Tiger Woods accessories, be sure to see golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.
Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been on a roll since the PGA Tour restarted in June 2020. In fact, the model has won nearly $10,000 on its best bets since the restart, winning tournament after tournament.
McClure’s model correctly predicted that Scottie Scheffler would finish atop the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit +9,000, and throughout the tournament, McClure’s best bets returned nearly $1,000.
The model also predicted that Jon Rahm would be victorious in the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model surpassed Rahm’s second major career win over the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead in the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the model’s second consecutive victory at the Masters, which also guaranteed Scheffler’s victory in 2022.
Additionally, McClure’s best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing at the top of the table 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic rankings.
This same model also hit 11 majors entering the weekend and has reached the Masters three years in a row. Anyone who followed it saw massive returns.
Now with the 2024 PGA Championship field taking shape, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results have been surprising. Visit SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.
Top 2024 PGA Championship Predictions
A big surprise: Will Zalatoris, with a 25-1 chance, has a good campaign for the title. He is a target for anyone looking for a big payday. Zalatoris is back up to 30th in the official world rankings after falling outside the top 50 while recovering from a significant back injury he suffered in 2023.
The 27-year-old won the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship for his first career PGA Tour victory and has become a fixture near the top of the leaderboard at major championships in recent years. Zalatoris has made 11 career starts in majors and has finished in the top 10 on seven occasions, including a solo second-place finish at the 2022 PGA Championship and runner-up finishes at the 2021 Masters and 2022 US Open.
The model also examined where Tiger Woods ends up. The 48-year-old is a 15-time major champion and his 82 PGA Tour victories are tied with Sam Snead for the most in tour history. However, since a car accident that caused a compound fracture and left him with arthritis in his left leg, Woods has played sparingly. He has competed just seven times around the world in the last two years and has had to withdraw from three of those events due to illness or injury.
Woods made the cut at the Masters for the 24th consecutive time last month, breaking the record for most consecutive cuts made at Augusta National Golf Club. He will also have an intimate knowledge of Valhalla, having won the 2000 PGA Championship there. Woods returned to Valhalla in 2014 and missed the cut, but is a four-time winner of the PGA Championship and has also finished runner-up in this event on three other occasions.
