2024 PGA Championship odds, predictions, picks: Tiger Woods projection from golf model that hit the Masters

The 2024 PGA Championship field has been announced and Tiger Woods will make the move as expected. Woods has not played since finishing 60th at the Masters in April, but will return to play in the second major of the year at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville. Woods won the 2000 PGA Championship at Valhalla but missed the cut when the 2014 PGA Championship was held at this famous Jack Nicklaus design. The 2024 PGA Championship will be the fourth time Valhalla has hosted the event and Woods is a long shot at 125-1 at the 2024 PGA Championship odds.

Rory McIlroy was the winner at Valhalla in 2014 and is 12-1 in the 2024 PGA Championship odds, while Scottie Scheffler is the 3-1 favorite after his win at Augusta. Before securing your 2024 PGA Championship picks or Tiger Woods accessories, be sure to see golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been on a roll since the PGA Tour restarted in June 2020. In fact, the model has won nearly $10,000 on its best bets since the restart, winning tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model correctly predicted that Scottie Scheffler would finish atop the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit +9,000, and throughout the tournament, McClure’s best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted that Jon Rahm would be victorious in the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model scored the second major victory of Rahm’s career over the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead in the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the model’s second consecutive victory at the Masters, which also guaranteed Scheffler’s victory in 2022.

Additionally, McClure’s best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing at the top of the table 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic rankings.

This same model also hit 11 majors entering the weekend and has reached the Masters three years in a row. Anyone who followed it saw massive returns.

Now with the 2024 PGA Championship field taking shape, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results have been surprising. Visit SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2024 PGA Championship Predictions

A big surprise: Justin Thomas, with a 33-1 chance, has a good campaign for the title. He is a target for anyone looking for a big payday. Thomas has seen his two major victories come at the PGA Championship, as he won in 2017 and 2022. He finished two strokes ahead of three golfers in 2017 before defeating Will Zalatoris in a playoff in 2022.

Thomas has missed the cut in four of his last five major starts, but his cut came at the PGA Championship last season. He is coming off one of his best performances of the season, finishing fifth at the RBC Heritage to close out the month of April. Thomas ranks eighth on the PGA Tour in birdie average and 11th in putting average, so the model is confident he can win his third PGA Championship.

The model also examined where Tiger Woods ends up. Since he suffered a horrific leg injury in a car accident in February 2021, Woods has played sporadically. He has made seven world appearances in the last two years and had to withdraw from three of them due to injury or illness. However, he has made a point of trying to play on courses that have historical significance to him and that can be nostalgic for Valhalla.

Woods beat Bob May in a playoff to win his fifth career major championship and his second PGA Championship in 2000 and when he won the 2001 Masters eight months later, he became the first player in history to hold all four major titles at a turn. Tiger put together two solid rounds to open the 2024 Masters, but struggled over the weekend. However, completing a four-round event should serve as a confidence boost and Valhalla should be an easier ride for Woods than Augusta. The model also targets three other golfers with odds greater than 20-1 for a strong title run. Anyone who supports these longshot hypotheses could hit big. You can only see the model choices here.
