The 2023 NFL the season came to an end after the Kansas City Chiefs won for the second time in a row Super Bowl. Free agency is in the rearview mirror, as is 2024 NFL Draft. Now, teams are well prepared in the off-season for the upcoming season.
They will do their best to end Kansas City’s two-year reign at the top of the league, while the champions will no doubt try to do what they can this year to try for a third seed. In the space below, we’ve highlighted all the key dates and events to watch out for as the league prepares for the 2024 season.
Preparing for the 2024 NFL season
- End of May to beginning of June: Organized Team Activities (OTAs) and required minicamps

The rest of the offseason, with the exception of the franchise deadline (which is the deadline for tagged players to sign a long-term contract with that franchise), is mostly up in the air at the moment. Typically, teams announce their training camp schedule in June. So, when official dates are available, we will fill them in here.
Start of the 2024 season
The pre-season will begin Thursday, August 1st, with the Chicago Bears facing the Houston Texans. The regular season will officially begin Thursday, September 5thwith the defending champion Chiefs hosting the Baltimore Ravens.
