TST 2024: Schedule, where to watch, how to watch J.J. Watt and Burnley, Wrexham, Pat McAfee and more

The Football Tournament returns on Wednesday, with men’s and women’s teams competing for two $1 million prizes. With seven-on-seven teams made up of current and former players, as well as athletes from other sports, it’s a tournament with a big draw in Cary, NC. This is the second year the tournament has run after being created by the same group behind The Basketball Tournament, TBT Enterprises. The inaugural tournament was won by New city Pride FC based in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. Pride will look to retain their title by participating in the tournament again this year, but will be joined by a large group of competitors.

Here’s what you should know:

Players to watch

This is a very attractive tournament, as players like Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli will be the soccer stars coming to North Carolina, but it is not limited to soccer, as NFL and media stars like NFL Today’s JJ Watt, former wide receiver Chad Johnson and punter Pat McAfee will also participate. Even well-known soccer names from CBS Sports such as Christina Unkel, Jimmy Conrad and Lori Lindsey will be involved in the tournament, all with a chance to take home the grand prize.

Here are the teams and players to watch:

  • Kwik Goal FC: Comprised of former United States men’s international players, Jimmy Conrad, DaMarcus Beasley and Dwayne De Rosario will be the starters on this team.
  • Burnley: On the men’s side, JJ Watt will lead the attack, while his wife Kealia will lead the Burnley women’s team.
  • CONCAFA SC: TV personality and former NFL punter McAfee will try his hand at football.
  • Nani CF: This is a star-studded cast like Dom Dwyer will be accompanied by Nani, Balotelli and Bruno Alves.
  • Team Agüero: The team needs no introduction, but after retiring, Aguero is back for this tournament.
  • Borussia Dortmund: This team will be difficult to mark, led by Roman Weidenfeller, and he will be joined by Evanilson, Kevin Grosskreutz, Marco Amoroso and Moritz Leitner.
  • Wrexham: Although Wrexham Red Dragons are missing first-team players from the team who have just been promoted to League One, they are the ones to watch. The Hollywood-backed club of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney also has a women’s side and will have some NWSL connections with Nicole Baxter and Danica Evans looking to make some noise.
