French Open 2024: Scores, schedule, results, start time, live stream, how to watch final matches

#3 Carlos Alcaraz advanced to her first French Open final with a 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory against No. 2 Jannik Sinner in the semifinals on Friday. On Sunday, Alcaraz will face No. 4 Alexander Zverev in a battle at Roland Garros.

Alcaraz will now have the opportunity to win the French Open for the first time in his professional career. The 21-year-old has already been defeated in the 2023 French Open semi-finals by Novak Djokovic, who had to withdraw from the 2024 French Open due to a knee injury.

Meanwhile, Zverev got the better of seventh-seeded Casper Ruud to win 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 in Friday’s other semi-final. Zverev finally broke through the proverbial glass ceiling after being eliminated in the French Open semifinals in each of the previous three years. Zverev has a Grand Slam title under his belt as he defeated Karen Khachanov to win the 2020 US Open final.

Most recently, Alcaraz and Zverev met in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, in a match in which Zverev emerged victorious.

On the women’s side, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek advanced to her third consecutive French Open women’s singles final with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Coco Gauff on Thursday. On Saturday, Swiatek will face Jasmine Paolini, who will compete in her first Grand Slam final, for the French Open title.

Swiatek has won 18 consecutive matches on clay and is on a 20-match winning streak at Roland Garros since 2022. As she seeks a third peat, the 23-year-old Pole becomes just the third woman to make it this far at the French Open in three consecutive years , joining Justine Henin and Maria Sharapova.

Meanwhile, this has been a standout season for Paolini, a 28-year-old Italian. Paolini had never made it past the second round of a major tournament before this year, but she was ready for the moment when she cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Mirra Andreeva in the semifinals. Paolini will make her debut in the WTA top 10 next week and should be at least in 7th position.

Swiatek and Paolini have already faced each other twice, with the Polish star leading the series 2-0. They have not faced each other since the first round of the 2022 US Open, a match which Swiatek won 6-3 6-0.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 French Open.
