Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina consists of 10 golf courses, with Pinehurst No. 2 being the main attraction. It is one of the few courses to have hosted a US Open and PGA championship. Top US Open Predictions for 2024
A big surprise the model is waiting for at the 2024 US Open: Brooks Koepka (12-1), two-time US Open champion and one of the main favorites, stumbles and narrowly reaches the top 10. Koepka has five major championships overall but he hasn’t been a factor in major tournaments since last winning at the 2023 PGA Championship. In his four majors since then, his best finish was tying for 17th at last year’s US Open. Koepka has finished outside the top 25 in each of his last three major matches, which is one step closer to tying a long career drought.
He has finished outside the top 15 in four straight majors and has struggled overall this season. In his last eight tournament matches, he has twice as many finishes outside the top 25 (four) as inside the top 10 (two). Another surprise: Justin Thomas, with a 33-1 chance, has a good campaign for the title. He has a much better chance of winning than his long odds suggest, so he is a target for anyone looking for a big payout. Thomas made his first major start at Pinehurst at the 2014 US Open, where he missed the cut. However, over the past decade, Thomas has scored two major victories as part of his 15 PGA Tour wins. He is finishing in the top 10 at the PGA Championship and has had a resurgent season after struggling last year. Thomas has already matched his top-10 number (four) this year, as he did in 2022-23, and is at par or better in 11 of his last 12 rounds.
Thomas’ bounce-back season is due to him excelling at just about any type of club in his hands. He is in the top 10 on the tour in the strokes gained categories: tee-to-green (1.398), approach to the green (0.697) and around-the-green (0.445), so he is performing well in both the long game as in the long game. short game.
