2024 U.S. Open odds, golf picks: Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy predictions from model that hit the Masters, PGA

Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina was designed by Donald Ross in 1907. Its legendary No. 2 course will host the national championship for the fourth time when the 2024 U.S. Open begins on Thursday. Scottie Scheffler is headlining the 2024 US Open after his fifth win of the season last week at the Memorial Tournament. He has only finished outside the top 10 once in 13 starts during the 2024 PGA Tour schedule and has already broken his own single-season record for prize money won (more than $24 million). Scheffler is now a two-time major champion following his four-stroke Masters triumph and the 11-4 favorite in the 2024 U.S. Open odds after finishing in the top seven at the last three national championships.

Rory McIlroy, thirst see golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been on a roll since the PGA Tour restarted in June 2020. In fact, the model has won nearly $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, winning tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model correctly predicted that Scottie Scheffler would finish atop the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit +9,000, and throughout the tournament, McClure’s best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted that Jon Rahm would be victorious in the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model surpassed Rahm’s second major career win over the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead in the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the model’s second consecutive victory at the Masters, which also guaranteed Scheffler’s victory in 2022.

This same model also nailed 12 majors heading into the weekend, including three consecutive Masters and the 2024 PGA Championship. Anyone who followed it saw massive returns.

Now as the 2024 US Open approaches, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results have been surprising. Visit SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard for the 2024 US Open.

2024 US Open predictions for Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy

A shock the model is waiting for at the 2024 US Open: Xander Schauffele (10-1), fresh from his first major victory at the PGA Championship and one of this week’s main favorites, stumbles and narrowly breaks into the top five. There are better values in this week’s PGA odds chart.

Schauffele’s major championship breakthrough was a long time coming, as the 30-year-old racked up 12 top-10 finishes in 27 major championship starts before finally winning the 2024 PGA Championship last month. He followed that up with a 68 in the first round to enter contention early at Muirfield Village last week, but played the next two rounds evenly before falling out of contention with a 75 in the final round. he starts at the US Open, but was unable to cross the finish line and the model does not see him living up to his second favorite status this week. See who else will disappear here.

The model also fixed its projection for Tiger Woods (125-1), a 15-time major winner. Woods has recorded 15 major victories, behind Jack Nicklaus’ 18. With lingering health issues, Woods has not recorded a top 10 finish at the US Open since 2010, however.

The 48-year-old is easily the most recognized player of his generation and therefore could attract bets from those hoping he can turn back the clock. After all, Phil Mickelson won the 2021 PGA Championship at age 50. For golf fans everywhere, watching Woods play four rounds of competitive play would be a highlight of their U.S. Open-watching experience. See where each golfer finishes here.

On the other hand, the model examined Rory McIlroy’s odds (10-1) of winning his second US Open after being victorious in 2011. The four-time major winner has been seeking his fifth major title in a decade and missed the cut three times in a row at the 2016-18 US Open. However, he has racked up five consecutive top-10 finishes since then, including a runner-up finish last year.

He has more top-10 finishes (8) at the US Open and PGA Championship than the other two majors, but has been eliminated (10) fewer times at the US Open than the other three majors. The world No. 3 has two wins this season, taking home the title at the Zurich Classic New Orleans and the Wells Fargo Championship in back-to-back events. He enters the 2024 US Open with five consecutive top-15 finishes this season as he looks to overcome his long drought of major titles. See the model’s full US Open projections here.
