2024 U.S. Open live stream, where to watch: TV coverage, channel, Tiger Woods in Round 2, schedule, tee times

The 2024 US Open is here, three days of pure golf remain at one of the country’s most iconic courses, Pinehurst No. 2. The action in North Carolina continues on Friday with a stacked leaderboard competing to win the third major of the year. The ground is packed with fans as 156 golfers battle it out trying to claim a trophy and a huge prize for the winner.

Expectations were that there would be a three-horse race consuming the US Open as Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy began playing in succession as the three best players in the world. Scheffler has won five of his last eight events, including the Masters and Memorial last week, while Schauffele won his first major at the PGA Championship and McIlroy remains third in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Of that trio, McIlroy is the only one below average. In fact, he holds an 18-hole co-lead alongside Patrick Cantlay. Schauffele is five shots behind, while Scheffler is six behind after a rare round over par. That doesn’t mean the leaderboard no longer has stars at the top, as neophyte Ludvig Åberg, Bryson DeChambeau, Tony Finau and even Sergio Garcia are all four strokes off the lead.

Given the talent in the area, whoever wins at Pinehurst will certainly win the trophy and a record share of $4.3 million for the winner.

In addition to these big names, all eyes are once again on Tiger Woods, who is competing in his first US Open since 2020 and looking to reach the rankings for the first time since 2019 (and for the second time since 2013). Tiger fought on Thursday and will fight the cutline on Friday.

There is so much to keep track of this week that it can be overwhelming at times. Don’t worry though, we’ve got you covered. CBS Sports is offering live coverage of the 2024 PGA Championship from start to finish on Friday.
