Where to watch Serbia vs. England: UEFA Euro 2024 Group C live stream online, TV, prediction and odds

England will be hoping for success before any tournament, but the level of demands placed on Gareth Southgate’s side could hardly be greater three years on from the Wembley defeat. The Three Lions have one of the best young teams on the planet, headlined by a formidable attack that includes Spain and England’s current players of the year, as well as Germany’s top scorer. After years of steady progress, it now appears we are buying time for the Three Lions.

They will, however, be tested by a group that includes three teams ranked in FIFA’s top 60, all of whom reached the tournament directly through qualification rather than through recourse to the playoffs. Like England, Serbia look like a team full of attacking talent but with work to do defensively, although they are perhaps a little more willing to risk defeat in search of victory. When they are good, like in the 3-0 friendly win over Sweden, Dragan Stojkovic’s team look good enough to test anyone in Europe. However, this is still a team that has not always revealed its collective potential, losing home and away to Hungary in qualifying and nearly losing in Bulgaria. Here’s how you can watch Sunday’s game and everything you need to know:

Group C outlook

England are strong favorites to top Group C and are expected to not only win their games but do so in style as their front line includes Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka. There are, however, challenges to face in the Serbia game and beyond. Denmark may have struggled at the 2022 World Cup, but their team is experienced and talented, and took first place in Group H of the qualifiers, ahead of Slovenia.

The Dragons may be the least favored of the quartet to escape the group, but they have a key component to success in any international tournament: quality at the top and bottom of the field. Jan Oblak is out of the rut of a few years ago with Atletico Madrid, while Benjamin Sesko is the young striker on everyone’s lips after an impressive run of goals for RB Leipzig in the spring.

Team News

Serbia: A rather dismal run of results following their early exit from the World Cup 18 months ago may have tempered expectations in Serbia, but perhaps they should be raised following an impressive win in Sweden to round off the friendlies, with Aleksandar Mitrovic and substitute Dusan Tadic scoring in the second half for the visitors. It could be that Stojkovic chooses to continue with what worked in that game, but more likely he will look to find space for Tadic, perhaps at the expense of Dusan Vlahovic.

Possible Serbia XI: Vanja Miliknovic-Savic; Stojic, Milenkovic, Pavlovic; Zivkovic, Lukic, Gudelj, Kostic; Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Tadic; Mitrovic

England: It would be unwise to exaggerate Friday’s 1-0 defeat to Iceland, even though this is England preparing for a major tournament. Reason rarely prevails when it comes to the discourse on Southgate. Although Kobbie Mainoo has had brilliant moments to solve his most important problems, it seems plausible that his place alongside Declan Rice could be taken by a midfielder with greater experience in a match that could be amplified by Serbia’s commitment in attack, Conor Gallagher. perhaps being a logical option.

Beyond that, the only real question up for debate is who will be John Stones’ partner in Harry Maguire’s absence. Marc Guehi has established himself as Southgate’s most reliable understudy of late and looks the most reliable starter at the back. With Luke Shaw still working on his fitness, Kieran Trippier is expected to take over at left back.

Possible England XI: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Guehi, Trippier; Rice, Gallagher; Saka, Bellingham, Foden; Kane

Prediction

Serbia tends to be very prepared to allow games to be a bit end-to-end, a bit attack-on-attack. Ultimately, this could serve England, who should have enough firepower to get the job done. CHOICE: Serbia 1, England 3
