The famous chef Gordon Ramsay said he is “lucky to be here” after a cycling accident left him with a huge bruise on his torso. He revealed the injury in a surprising video shared on Saturday with his social media pages, where the British restaurateur and reality TV star highlighted the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bike.
Ramsay did not share details about the circumstances of the accident, but described it as “a very serious accident” that happened earlier in the week while he was cycling in Connecticut. He said the accident left him shaken and in pain, although he did not break any bones or suffer serious injuries.
“I would like to share a very important message with all of you,” Ramsay said in the video, which he recorded while apparently returning to work in his chef uniform. “This week, unfortunately, I was in a really bad accident and it really shook me up. And honestly, I’m lucky to be here.”
His injuries required hospital treatment, Ramsay said, before thanking a team of “incredible trauma surgeons, doctors and nurses” at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in the coastal town of New London, Connecticut, who handled his care after the accident. . But Ramsey noted that he was very grateful to the helmet for saving his life.
“You need to wear a helmet,” Ramsay said. “I don’t care how short the trip is, I don’t care that these helmets cost money… they are crucial. Even with children, it’s a short trip, they have to wear a helmet. “
Ramsay lifted his uniform coat to give the camera a view of the bruise he suffered in the accident. It covered one side of her belly almost completely with skin marked in a deep purple hue.
“Now I’m lucky to be here. I’m in pain, it’s been a brutal week and I’m getting through it,” Ramsay said.
He ended the video with a signature acknowledging Father’s Day on Sunday.
