Poland vs. Austria live stream, prediction: Where to watch UEFA Euro 2024 live online, TV channel, odds

Poland and Austria meet in Berlin on Friday in Group D of UEFA Euro 2024, with both teams needing to win after losing their opening games. Netherlands beat Michal Probierz’s men 2-1 while Ralf Rangnick’s team narrowly lost to France 1-0. Adam Buksa’s goal created a Polish lead, but Oranje responded with two goals, while Maximilian Wober’s own goal was enough for Les Bleus in Dusseldorf.

Robert Lewandowski was absent for Poland in Hamburg, but there were still opportunities against the Dutch, but there is now little margin for error. Both sides will want to continue their quest for at least a third-place finish, which could take them to the round of 16. An eight-game unbeaten run for the Poles is over, making this a crucial bounce-back game, so Lewandowski being available would be a huge boost.

Austria looked organized against France and were unlucky to lose by a single goal. Only Kylian Mbappe’s injury prevented the Austrians from receiving the praise they probably deserve for their performance earlier this week. That doesn’t change the fact that this is now their must-win game, so the stakes are high for both sides and Poland will capitalize on their chances of regaining qualification for Euro 2020.

Group D

France and the Netherlands control the standings, but face each other on Friday in Leipzig, which is an opportunity for one of the two to gain ground. A draw doesn’t help either side with difficult games to finish the group stage, so whoever manages to win will have a real chance of reaching the round of 16 through a third rhythm, if they can pick up a point in the final game.

Team News

Poland: Lewandowski may be available but may not start, while Karol Swiderski came on in the second half after his own injury so could replace Kacper Urbanski in this game. Jakub Moder and Bartosz Slisz are options in midfield, although Probierz is unlikely to make radical changes.

Possible Poland XI: Szczesny; Bednarek, Salamon, Kiwior; Frankowski, Szymanski, Romanczuk, Zielinski, Zalewski; Swiderski, Buksa.

Austria: Marko Arnautovic could replace Rangnick, along with Patrick Wimmer, which should allow Marcel Sabitzer to play more centrally. Otherwise, expect a similar approach to that seen against France, who probably deserved at least one unexpected point.

Possible Austria XI: Pentz; Posch, Danso, Wober, Mwene; Seiwald, Grillitsch; Laimer, Baumgartner, Sabitzer; Arnautovic.

Prediction

Although this is a game where both must win, it seems that neither side will allow themselves to lose. Because of this, expect both to score, but for the points to be split. Choice: Poland 1, Austria 1.
