North Carolina Basketball Roster Matches
Although North Carolina returns RJ Davis and most of its 2023-24 roster, the Heels will still have to find a way to replace forward/center Armando Bacot. The two-time All-American leaves Chapel Hill as the program’s all-time leader in rebounds, games played and double-doubles. Bacot’s NBA Draft prospects remain unclear, but replacing his production in the front court will be a difficult task for Davis and his staff.
Another important departure for the Heels is Harrison Ingram. The 6-foot-1 forward transferred to UNC before last season after spending the first two years of his career at Stanford. Ingram averaged 12.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for the Tar Heels in 2023-24. Ingram could still opt to return to North Carolina, but the projected second-round pick has not yet been firmly announced. That didn’t stop the Heels from signing the ninth-ranked recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports. So far, UNC has added three high school players and one player from the Transfer Portal.
The new talent is headlined by two five-star high school signees, guard Ian Jackson and forward Drake Powell. Jackson, ranked as the No. 9 overall prospect in the country, is an explosive 6-foot-2 guard who has the ability to be an instant impact player on the defensive end of the floor.
