2024 Wells Fargo Championship one and done picks, field, sleepers: Golf predictions, expert PGA betting advice

Another of the PGA Tour’s eight signature events is available this week, with the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship set to begin on Thursday, May 9, at Quail Hollow Golf & Country Club in Charlotte. The 2024 Wells Fargo Championship field is star-studded with names like Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Ludvig Aberg serving as headliners. McIlroy is listed as the 15-2 betting favorite in the latest 2024 Wells Fargo Championship odds. Other top contenders include Schauffele (10-1), Aberg (12-1), Wyndham Clark (18-1), Viktor Hovland (22-1), Tommy Fleetwood (22-1), Patrick Cantlay (22-1), Max Homa (22-1) and Collin Morikawa (22-1). The total purse for the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship is $20 million, with the winner’s share reaching $3.6 million.

Can McIlroy survive the field and claim his 26th career PGA Tour victory? Or will McIlroy stumble and open the door for a sleeper like Will Zalatoris or Jordan Spieth to walk through? Before securing your 2024 Wells Fargo Championship and picks made, you need to see what SportsLine DFS pro and PGA expert Mike McClure has to say.

The One and Done format is growing in popularity. It has several noticeable similarities to NFL survivor pools, with the main difference being that entries are not eliminated with a bad week. Players choose one golfer each week and earn points based on the selected player’s prize money for that tournament. Golfers can only be used once per season, and the points format makes it critical to hit majors, exclusive events, and big-money tournaments.

McClure is a DFS legend with over $2 million in career earnings and has been on a roll in his PGA picks since the PGA Tour restarted in June 2020. McClure uses his proprietary simulation model to analyze the field and crush your golf picks.

McClure is on fire with his One and Done picks in 2024. At American Express he backed Justin Thomas, who finished third and took home $635,600. At the Genesis Invitational, McClure chose Patrick Cantlay, who finished fourth in the exclusive event, as his top OAD pick. At the Cognizant Classic, McClure’s top pick, Min Woo Lee, finished in a tie for second place. Finally, at the Arnold Palmer Invitation, another exclusive event, McClure recommended using Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris. The Result: Scheffler won the event by five strokes and Zalatoris finished in fourth place.

His hot streak continued at the Players Championship, where McClure again recommended using Scheffler (if he was still available) and Xander Schauffele. The two players were in contention until the end, with Scheffler coming away with the victory and Schauffele finishing in second place! Then, at the Valspar Championship, McClure recommended using Cameron Young, who finished second, in the OAD pools.

In last week’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson, McClure recommended using 50-1 Alex Noren in One and Done pools. Noren would remain in contention until the end, before finishing in third place, two shots behind the lead.

Now, McClure has called the Wells Fargo Championship golf tournament and just nailed his PGA picks and predictions. They are a must-have for any player looking for an edge in their One and Done pool. You can only see McClure’s 2024 Wells Fargo Championship and picks made at SportsLine.

2024 Wells Fargo Championship One and Done Top Picks

One of McClure’s top OAD picks this week for the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship is former Texas Tech standout Ludvig Åberg. The 24-year-old burst onto the professional golf scene when he claimed his first career PGA Tour victory at the RSM Classic in November and hasn’t slowed down since. Åberg has recorded finishes in the top 25 or better in eight consecutive matches and has demonstrated a talent for playing his best golf against elite competition.

Åberg has been particularly strong in exclusive events and major championships. He finished second at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, eighth at The Players Championship, second at the Masters and 10th at the RBC Heritage. He enters this week ranked 8th on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained (1.144), 12th in strokes gained off the tee (.535) and 14th in strokes gained from tee to green (1.025). McClure expects Åberg to be back in contention this week at Quail Hollow. You can see who else you can support at SportsLine.
