The PGA Tour has two events in action this week, including the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. The course is situated on the beach in South Carolina, so wind is expected to come in from the ocean and create some potentially tricky situations for the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic field. Matt Wallace is coming off a strong showing in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and he will look to improve on his T4 result against a weaker field this week. Wallace is in the top 25 on the PGA Tour in scoring average, which is why he is among the top golfers on the PGA odds board for the Myrtle Beach Classic at 35-1.
Erik van Rooyen is the 25-1 favorite in the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic odds, followed by Ben Griffin (28-1) and Doug Ghim (30-1). Which golfers should you back in your 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic bets? SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been on a roll since the PGA Tour restarted in June 2020. In fact, the model has won more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, winning tournament after tournament.
McClure’s model correctly predicted that Scottie Scheffler would finish atop the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championship and RBC Heritage this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit +9,000, and throughout the tournament, McClure’s best bets returned nearly $1,000.
The model also predicted that Jon Rahm would be victorious in the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model surpassed Rahm’s second major career win over the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead in the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the model’s second consecutive victory at the Masters, which also guaranteed Scheffler’s victory in 2022.
Additionally, McClure’s best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing at the top of the table 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic rankings.
This same model also hit 11 majors entering the weekend and has reached the Masters three years in a row. Anyone who followed it saw massive returns.

Top Myrtle Beach Classic Predictions for 2024
One big surprise the model is expecting at the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic: Griffin, who is second in the odds this week, stumbles and doesn’t even make the top five. Griffin finished 13th at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last week after missing the cut at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. He has finished in the top 40 in five of his last six tournaments, but has not finished in the top 10 during that span.
In fact, his only top 10 of the season came at The American Express in January, when he finished T9 at 24 under. He is outside the top 160 on the PGA Tour in total driving and outside the top 120 in GIR percentage. The model doesn’t think he has the tools to put together four strong rounds this week, which makes him a golfer to avoid in the Myrtle Beach Classic betting.
Another surprise: Andrew Novak, with a 40-1 chance, has a good campaign for the title. He has a much better chance of winning it all than his odds suggest, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a big payday. Novak missed the cut in his first three tournaments of the season, but responded with excellent play.
He has been eliminated in eight of his last nine events, including top-10 finishes at the WM Phoenix Open, Mexico Open and Cognizant Classic. Novak finished T23 at the Zurich Classic before finishing T30 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last week. He ranks eighth on the PGA Tour in sand save percentage, which sets him up for success on a bunker-heavy beach course. See who else to choose here.
How to Make 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic Picks
The model also targets three other golfers with odds of 35-1 or better to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who supports these longshot hypotheses could hit big. You can only see the model choices here.
