Xander Schauffele took his name off the list of the best non-specialized players by winning the PGA Championship. That should take a weight off his shoulders heading into the 2024 U.S. Open, which will be held at Pinehurst No. 2 starting Thursday, June 13. However, others like Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau and Max Homa are eagerly awaiting their first major championships. Recent history is in their favor for the 2024 US Open, as the last five winners have all been major champions for the first time.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been on a roll since the PGA Tour restarted in June 2020. In fact, the model has won nearly $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, winning tournament after tournament.
McClure’s model correctly predicted that Scheffler would finish atop the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit +9,000, and throughout the tournament, McClure’s best bets returned nearly $1,000.
The model also predicted that Rahm would be victorious in the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model surpassed Rahm’s second major career win over the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead in the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the model’s second consecutive victory at the Masters, which also guaranteed Scheffler’s victory in 2022.
This same model also nailed 12 majors heading into the weekend, including the last three Masters and the 2024 PGA Championship. Those who have already followed are in high demand.

Top US Open Predictions for 2024
A big surprise the model is waiting for at the 2024 US Open: Brooks Koepka (12-1), two-time US Open champion and one of the main favorites, stumbles and narrowly reaches the top 10. Koepka has five major championships overall but he hasn’t been a factor in major tournaments since last winning at the 2023 PGA Championship. In his four majors since then, his best finish was tying for 17th at last year’s US Open. Koepka has finished outside the top 25 in each of his last three major matches, which is one step closer to tying a long career drought.
He has finished outside the top 15 in four straight majors and has struggled overall this season. In his last eight tournament matches, he has twice as many finishes outside the top 25 (four) as inside the top 10 (two). Add to that that he shot over par in his only previous start at Pinehurst No. 2, and there are much better values to utilize betting on the 2024 US Open. See who else will disappear here.
Another surprise: Justin Thomas, with a 33-1 chance, has a good campaign for the title. He has a much better chance of winning than his long odds suggest, so he is a target for anyone looking for a big payout. After a streak of seven consecutive majors where he finished no better than 37th place, Thomas finally re-entered major championship contention with an eighth-place finish at the 2024 PGA Championship. He was consistent throughout the event, as only six other golfers besides Thomas also shot under 70 in all four rounds.
The two-time PGA champion now has four top 10s this season, which already matches his total from last year, and three of those four have faced the best fields in majors or exclusive tournaments. Thomas’ long game remains his best asset, as he ranks in the top twelve on the PGA Tour in both strokes gained: tee to green and strokes gained: approach to green. He is also on a 119-hole three-putt streak, the ninth longest on the tour, which has allowed him to average 4.39 birdies per round.
