After a busy international swing that included stops in Australia and Singapore, LIV Golf returns to the United States for its event in Houston, Texas. Heading to the Golf Club of Houston for the first time in league history, LIV Golf will feature the usual suspects in its only event before next week’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst No.
Leading the way of the contenders is the man who almost reigned supreme at the PGA Championship, Bryson DeChambeau. The Crushers captain has been excellent at LIV Golf and major championships, but is still searching for his first individual title of the year. His team scored a few wins, as did the all-Australian team, Ripper GC.
Cameron Smith is aiming to lead his team to a third successive victory and is looking to find his own form in the process. Although the former Open champion has shown good form this season, Smith has struggled to put together a series of quality matches. With next week’s venue set up perfectly for his game, Smith expects an increase in preparation for the US Open.
Jon Rahm has been excellent at LIV Golf, finishing in the top 10, but that has yet to translate into major championships. Not a major factor in the Masters or PGA Championship, the two-time major champion hopes to find the missing link this week in Houston.
Brooks Koepka looks close to something special as Singapore’s latest LIV Golf winner, while Joaquin Niemann looks to keep his great season moving in the right direction. Dean Burmester, Abraham Ancer, Talor Gooch and Louis Oosthuizen are among those rounding out Houston’s roster of candidates.
