McClure’s model correctly predicted that Scottie Scheffler would finish atop the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit +9,000, and throughout the tournament, McClure’s best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted that Jon Rahm would be victorious in the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model scored the second major victory of Rahm’s career over the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead in the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the model’s second consecutive victory at the Masters, which also guaranteed Scheffler’s victory in 2022.

This same model also nailed 12 majors heading into the weekend, including three consecutive Masters and the 2024 PGA Championship. Anyone who followed it saw massive returns.

2024 US Open predictions for Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy

A shock that the model is waiting for at the US Open 2024: Xander Schauffele (10-1), fresh from his first major win at the PGA Championship and one of this week’s main favorites, stumbles and narrowly misses the top five. There are better values ​​in this week’s PGA odds chart.

This victory was a huge blow in the back for one of the best players in the world, who had previously not won a major tournament. However, he has not finished better than T10 at the US Open since 2021 and has finished T10 or worse in nine of his last 11 majors. Woods is one of golf’s five career Grand Slam winners, but injuries have taken their toll on the 48-year-old. He had to withdraw from the Genesis Invitational in February and is coming off a loss at the PGA Championship in May. On the other hand, the model examined Rory McIlroy’s (9-1) chances of winning his second US Open after being victorious in 2011. McIlroy has accumulated 26 career victories on the PGA Tour and has won two of his last four starts before for the Memorial Tournament. One of those victories came at the Zurich Classic, the PGA Tour’s only team event.

McIlroy secured a runner-up finish at the US Open in 2023, but has not won a major since 2014, when he won the PGA Championship and Open Championship. He secured a T-12 at the PGA Championship in May, but his game appears to be taking shape heading into the 2024 US Open. McIlroy ranks second in driving distance (318.1), third in strokes gained: out of tee (0.861) and third in strokes gained: total (1.723).
