2024 U.S. Open odds, golf picks: Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods predictions by model that hit the Masters, PGA

Notable golfers such as Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau have won the US Open since 2015. However, Wyndham Clark, who shocked the world in 2023, winning by one stroke after entering the tournament with 70-1 Long Shot. After missing the cut at the Masters and PGA Championship in 2024, Clark is a long shot at 33-1 according to the latest 2024 US Open odds. Top contenders for the 2024 US Open include favorites Scottie Scheffler (11- 4), Rory McIlroy (10-1), Xander Schauffele (10-1), DeChambeau (10-1) and Viktor Hovland (12-1).

The game begins on Thursday, June 13 at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina. Before locking in your 2024 US Open picks or entering any PGA DFS tournaments on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, be sure to see golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been on a roll since the PGA Tour restarted in June 2020. In fact, the model has won nearly $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, winning tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model correctly predicted that Scottie Scheffler would finish atop the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit +9,000, and throughout the tournament, McClure’s best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted that Jon Rahm would be victorious in the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model scored the second major victory of Rahm’s career over the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead in the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the model’s second consecutive victory at the Masters, which also guaranteed Scheffler’s victory in 2022.

This same model also nailed 12 majors heading into the weekend, including three consecutive Masters and the 2024 PGA Championship. Anyone who followed it saw massive returns.

Now as the 2024 US Open approaches, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results have been surprising. Visit SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard for the 2024 US Open.

2024 US Open predictions for Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy

A shock the model is waiting for at the 2024 US Open: Xander Schauffele (10-1), fresh from his first major victory at the PGA Championship and one of this week’s main favorites, stumbles and narrowly breaks into the top five. There are better values in this week’s PGA odds chart.

Schauffele has had nothing but success at the US Open, with seven top 25 finishes in seven matches. However, none of those appearances came at Pinehurst No. 2. The course, with its firm fairways and fading greens, looks more like a links course that is seen at the British Open. Two of Pinehurst’s biggest competitions are Royal Liverpool and Royal Portrush, and Schauffele finished 17th and 41st respectively at those venues.

If there’s a weak point in Schauffele’s game it’s his driver, who is outside the top 25 in distance and accuracy. Additionally, he ranks 173rd in total driving efficiency, and Pinehurst heavily penalizes throws that don’t hit the field. Additionally, backtracking in majors is extremely rare, as Jordan Spieth in 2015 was the last to do so. Given this, and his extremely short odds, Schauffele will disappear from US Open 2024 betting. See who else will disappear here.

The model also fixed its projection for Tiger Woods (125-1), a 15-time major winner. Woods has recorded 15 major wins, behind Jack Nicklaus’ 18. With lingering health issues, Woods has not recorded a top 10 finish at the US Open since 2010, however.

The 48-year-old is easily the most recognized player of his generation and therefore could attract bets from those hoping he can turn back the clock. After all, Phil Mickelson won the 2021 PGA Championship at age 50. For golf fans everywhere, watching Woods play four rounds of competitive play would be a highlight of their U.S. Open-watching experience. See where each golfer finishes here.

On the other hand, the model examined Rory McIlroy’s (10-1) chances of winning his second US Open after being victorious in 2011. McIlroy recorded a T-15 at last week’s Memorial, but finished T-4 or better in three of their last five matches, which includes two wins in that period. He teamed with Shane Lowry to win the Zurich Classic and then finished atop the Wells Fargo Championship leaderboard.

McIlroy remains one of the best drivers on the PGA Tour. He enters the 2024 U.S. Open second in total driving (37), second in driving distance (317.5) and fifth in strokes gained: off the tee (.799). He has also had tremendous success in major championships, despite not having won a major since the PGA Championship in 2014. He has accumulated 20 top-10 finishes since his last major victory, which includes finishing in the top 10 in each of his last five matches at the US Open.
