Tom Brady assesses Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs chances of winning a third-straight Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs achieved one of the most remarkable feats in history. NFL history in 2023 by winning back-to-back Super Bowls. The last team capable of doing this was about 20 years ago, when Tom Brady and the New England Patriots won back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004. Now, Patrick Mahomes and company are looking to do something that has never been done by any team: win three Back-to-back Super Bowls.

Of course, this is no easy task, as highlighted by Brady himself during an interview with FS1’s Colin Cowherd. The seven times Super Bowl The champion was asked about Kansas City’s chances of reaching new heights in the NFL with a three-peat and he detailed how scary it is to win just one title let alone three in a row.

“Winning a Super Bowl is extremely challenging, as we know,” Brady told Cowherd. “Even when you look at the way the Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year against the 49ers, it was an incredible comeback, so to speak. it will be this year for them too.

He added: “All these NFL teams are very competitive. They’re all well-coached. The margin for error is minimal. So winning a Super Bowl is extremely difficult. Winning two in a row what the Chiefs have done, I mean, as we know in the history of the sport, it’s almost impossible to win three in a row, there’s a reason why no one has done it because it’s hard to win one in a row Putting three of those together in consecutive seasons with the last draft, a very difficult schedule, all the turnover in free agency, The guys are still motivated, it’s a big challenge.”

Overall, Brady seemed to doubt the Chiefs — or any team — would win a third straight Super Bowl, but he wasn’t going to let it go despite the odds being stacked against them.

“Believe me, everyone would probably put them as one of the odds favorites to do it, but even then there’s not a 50/50 chance of that happening,” he said. “There’s a lot less than that. These players are going to have to show up every day. They’re going to have to work like they did.

“Luckily they have an incredible coach in Andy Reid who never looks back. He’s not going to say, ‘Hey, because we were great last year, we’re going to be great again this year.’ He has a very veteran and experienced championship level coach who holds these guys accountable. They have a great quarterback in Patrick, who we know when he’s on the field is as good a football player as there is in the NFL. … They have a lot of great pieces, but winning it all over again is a major task. No one is going to ignore this, but we’re all excited to show up on opening day and see what happens. [the 2024 Chiefs can do].”

The Chiefs currently have the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl at FanDuel Sportsbook, looking only at the San Francisco 49ers.
