The Boston Bruins got off to a strong start in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by defeating the Florida Panthers 5-1. Bruins defenseman Mason Lohrei led the way with a goal and an assist, while goaltender Jeremy Swayman continued his sensational run with a 38-save performance.
Meanwhile, the Carolina Hurricanes will look to bounce back from a 4-3 loss in Game 1 when they face the New York Rangers on the road once again. Rangers center Mika Zibanejad led the team in Game 1 with two goals and an assist.
After defeating the Vegas Golden Knights in seven games, the Dallas Stars will continue their quest for the Stanley Cup on Tuesday when they face the Colorado Avalanche. The other Western Conference second-round matchup features the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers, which begins on Wednesday.
The structure of the playoffs is as follows:
- The division winner with the most points in each conference will face the second Wild Card team in the first round. The division winner with the fewest points in each conference will face the top Wild Card team in the first round.
- Each series will be a best-of-seven format.
- Home field advantage goes to the higher-seeded team in the first two rounds of the playoffs. The team with the most points in the regular season has home-field advantage in the conference finals and Stanley Cup Final.
