2024 NHL Playoffs bracket: Stanley Cup Playoffs schedule, Stars edge Oilers to even series

The Dallas Stars managed to even their Western Conference finals series against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2.

Forward Mason Marchment scored the winning goal at 3:41 of the third period. Marchment’s goal helped the Stars regain a 2-1 lead and ultimately helped Dallas earn a 3-1 victory.

Both teams came out of the goal extremely strong from an offensive point of view.

At 3:39 of the opening period, the Stars managed to get the puck out of their own zone and forward Jamie Benn finished it off. Benn operated a two-on-one with teammate Logan Stankoven, but opted to keep the puck and shot past Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner.

Less than a minute later, the Oilers counterattacked. While the Oilers were in the middle of a line change, defenseman Cody Ceci put the puck in the net on a redirected shot off a pass from forward Connor Brown. Brown got a rebound into the net to tie the game after goaltender Jake Oettinger made the initial save.

Stars defenseman Esa Lindell scored an empty net goal late in the third period to put the game out of reach.

Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger provided a stabilizing presence in net as he stopped 28 of 29 shots on the night. Oettinger has conceded just one goal for the fourth time in his last six playoff games.
