2024 NHL Playoffs bracket: Stanley Cup Playoffs schedule, Robertson gives Stars 2-1 series lead over Oilers

Thanks to Jason Robertson, the Dallas Stars now have a 2-1 lead over the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL Western Conference Final.

Robertson ended a 10-game drought with a hat trick in Edmonton on Monday night, and Dallas needed all three of those scores. With just over eight minutes left in regulation, Robertson beat Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner from a bad angle to give the Stars a 4-3 lead. That was the winning goal as Dallas held on for a 5-3 victory.

Roope Hintz, who had missed three consecutive games with an upper-body injury, returned to the Stars lineup and scored two goals. Young star Wyatt Johnston also scored his eighth goal of the playoffs.

After watching Robertson work, it was easy to forget that the Oilers actually had a 2-0 lead after the first period. Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist in the first eight minutes of the game, but he and the rest of the team were pretty quiet after that.

The Oilers managed to tie the game with a cool goal from Adam Henrique, but Dallas had complete control in the final 40 minutes. The Stars put together another fantastic road game, and their record away from the American Airlines Center is now 6-1.
