The last club in the history of English football to jump from second to first place on the final day of the season, Arsenal knows that this time, unlike in 1989, its destiny is not in its hands. Their latest triumph over Liverpool will certainly remain the greatest title-winning story England have ever had, but any story that ends with Mikel Arteta lifting the trophy at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday is likely to come close.
All Arsenal can do is win and hope West Ham do them a big favor at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal: Bukayo Saka may not have been seen as much in training this week, but the England international is expected to shake off a lingering problem and start again. Arteta is expected to have an in-form squad to choose from, which raises intriguing questions about whether he is prepared to continue with an XI that has been delivering results of late, but not always with the momentum of a few weeks ago. This was particularly evident in the 1-0 victory over Manchester United, which brought back familiar questions about whether Thomas Partey’s high-variance performances are more valuable than Jorginho’s stability.
“It’s one of the biggest weeks, for sure,” said Arteta. “For many of us and certainly now is the most important time. I’m very excited, I can’t wait for Sunday and obviously I’m also very optimistic about the possible outcome.”

Everton: Embroiled in crisis off the field and with an uncertain summer ahead, Sean Dyche’s side will undoubtedly be eager to finish 2023-24 in style. Defenders Vitalii Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson will be unavailable for the final game of the season, although right-back Seamus Coleman has been offered an extension, meaning Sunday’s game is unlikely to be his farewell to Everton. If André Gomes overcomes his facial injury he will be able to play what would be his last game for the Toffees. Arnaut Danjuma will also return to Villarreal after his loan spell ends, but Everton will hold talks with Leeds in an attempt to keep Jack Harrison at the club. He, however, will not be available for the trip to London.
