Euro 2024 has arrived, the continent’s best teams battle for supremacy three years after Italy’s astonishing run to glory at Wembley Stadium. The champions are among the leading contenders this time, but it would be equally surprising if they took the crown on July 14, such is the quality available to England, France, Germany, Portugal and Spain.
Meanwhile, with 16 of the 24 countries that qualified for Germany guaranteed places in the knockout stage, there is plenty of reason for hope among the little guys such as Slovenia, Albania and newcomers Georgia. For players like Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe, Euro 2024 offers an opportunity to develop their emerging legends, perhaps even claiming the Ballon d’Or, for the rest of us it just offers a feast of football and drama.

In total, 24 teams will face each other in 10 German cities in the 17th edition of the competition.
Locations
- AufSchalke Arena, Cologne Stadium, Waldstadion and Leipzig Stadium: Games up to the round of 16 will be played at Gelsenkirchen’s Veltins-Arena (Schalke 04), Cologne’s RheinEnergieStadion (FC Koln), Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Leipzig’s Red Bull Arena (RB Leipzig) – all renamed by UEFA for this competition.
- Stuttgart Arena, Volksparkstadion and Düsseldorf Arena: Games up to the quarter-finals will be played at Stuttgart’s MHPArena (VfB Stuttgart), Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion (Hamburger SV) and Dusseldorf’s Merkur Spiel-Arena (Fortuna Dusseldorf) – all renamed by UEFA for this competition.
- Fußball Arena München and BVB Stadion Dortmund: Games up to the semi-finals will be played at Munich’s Allianz Arena (Bayern Munich) and Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park (Borussia Dortmund) – both renamed by UEFA for this competition.
- Olympic Stadium: Games up to the final will be played at Berlin’s Olympiastadion (Hertha BSC).
