Where to watch Portugal vs. Czechia: UEFA Euro 2024 Group F live stream online, TV channel, prediction

A favorable draw in the group stage, a team blessed with talent from the back to front and impressive form in competitive games: on paper, Portugal should have everything it takes to win the European Championship. Whether these components can be transformed into a winning team is perhaps the only question hanging over the 2016 champions.

Much may depend on the impact of Cristiano Ronaldo, who will make history as the first player to compete in six European Championships. The goals have continued to flow steadily for the top scorer in men’s international football since his move to Al-Nassr, but there are still questions as to whether his presence hinders the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Rafael Leão. All of these players are expected to start strongly against the Czech Republic, who came second in a relatively favorable qualifying group and have made a good start to 2024 in their preparation friendlies. Here’s how you can watch the game and what you need to know:

Group E outlook

Portugal appears to be the big favorite to escape Group E and do so in style, given that none of the other three teams they will face are in the top 35 of the FIFA world rankings. Roberto Martinez’s team is currently in sixth place. The Czechs have enjoyed success at the Euros of late, reaching the quarter-finals three years ago thanks to Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick scoring.

Turkey were considered underdogs in that tournament, but instead they were eliminated without scoring a point, with their only goal coming when they were on course to be defeated by Switzerland. For Georgia there are no disappointments that can be compensated. In fact, the Crusaders, coached by the former French international, are competing in their first major international tournament.

Team News

Portugal: With Ronaldo expected to start the first game, the big question for Martinez will be how to surround him with the best combination of talent. Rafael Leão and João Félix will compete for a place on the left wing, and Bernardo Silva will probably be on the right. Ronaldo is not the only veteran looking to keep his place, 41-year-old Pepe, in line to start ahead of Gonçalo Inácio at the rear, alongside Ruben Dias.

Possible Portugal XI: Coast; Cancelo, Pepe, Dias, Mendes; Palhinha, Vitinha; Silva, Fernandes, Leão; Ronaldo

Czech republic: There’s always a freak injury before a big tournament, the goal is to make sure it’s not you. As such, Michal Sadilek really should have avoided the bike ride he took the day after captaining his country, suffering a serious injury that meant he would miss the Euros. In his place, Tomas Soucek, Lukas Provod and Antonin Barak are expected to form the third midfield of Ivan Hasek’s team.

Possible Czech Republic XI: Stanek; Holes, Hranac, Krejci; Coufal, Soucek, Provod, Barak, D. Jurasek; Kuchta, Schick

Prediction

Let’s hope this tournament starts in the usual way for Portugal, which should get the job done in a rather disappointing way. CHOICE: Portugal 2, Czech Republic 0
