Portugal 2, Czech Republic 1: last minute victory

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal won their opening game against the Czech Republic thanks to a last-minute winner from Conceição, who scored his first goal for the national team. It was not easy for the team coached by Roberto Martinez, who fought and also conceded the opening goal of the game in the second half to Lukas Provod, but managed to recover late in the last minutes.

Robin Hanrac’s own goal leveled the game, with Diogo Jota having the opportunity to score the decisive goal, but his was disallowed due to Ronaldo being offside. Portugal had one more chance and managed to score the decisive goal in stoppage time with Conceição to start their promising campaign with the necessary three points

Turkiye 3, Georgia 1: Guler’s excellent debut

It was probably the best game of the tournament so far in Dortmund, as Turkiye beat Georgia 3-1, after a game in which both teams played openly and took a lot of risks, especially in the first half. Montella’s team opened the scoring with Mert Muldur in the 25th minute, although they had already had two opportunities to score the opening goal in the first minutes of the game. The Turk had the chance to score the second goal with Kenan Yıldız, but his touch was offside and VAR disallowed the second goal of the match. A few minutes later, Georgia scored a historic goal, the first in the Euros with Georges Mikautadze.

The atmosphere was simply incredible in Dortmund, with the stadium full of fans mainly supporting Turkiye due to their large presence in the German community. Montella’s team had great chances to score the decisive goal, but it didn’t happen until Real Madrid player Guler scored a stunning goal from outside the box, leaving Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili speechless. Georgia had another great opportunity to equalise, but Kochorashvili’s shot was blocked against the post before Karem Aktürkoğlu scored the final goal of the clash. Turkiye won 3-1 and are now well placed to qualify for the next stage as they face Portugal on Saturday.
